This is late, and pretty much repeated words of what I've said/written. My 23 weeks spent at this hotel has been of much learning; not only about housekeeping operation, but also how to make friends with the people around me.
You wouldn't know how grateful I am that I get a chance to work with almost everyone in the department, and that I get to know the people of different departments too. You wouldn't know how honored I feel that these people share their thoughts and feelings with me, how much they trusted me; work-related or advice/feeling-related.
Me! I'm just a 19 year old kid! Or Intern (sounds better) I can't even believe that they would share with me the things they did. Like the kind of connection you have with your best friend. It's unbelievable and who says you can't make real friends from work? You can, as long as you have the heart to. Treat people with sincerity and you get what you give.. eventually. I've always believed in that.
Really, thank you for giving me that chance to connect with the people. Their job is tiring and pretty much requires some self-entertaining. I guess they were really happy that someone was sent to help them on certain days. Haha, I'm glad I could be the source of "entertainment" and help for them.
I will not forget the times spent in the pantry/ guest room chatting, breaking rules, eating in the office, the bad ROC (Relax One Corner; AKA our canteen) food, going "shopping" at the mall during office hours (!), going to Fairprice in the early morning to find roses for the guest in uniform (!), washing clothes using the washing machine which stopped working halfway with soaking hot water (!), helping guests out with the washing machine, Ipad and laundry, the very gentlemanly (sometimes) guys helping out with certain work, us scaring those smoking (HAHAHA that was a really funny incident!) etc etc.
Thank you for not treating me only like an Intern, but also as someone who you guys can trust enough to help you guys with things such as communicating, explaining things with, to guests.Thank you for trusting me to be someone mature enough to hear all those "adult's thoughts" of work. Thank you for trusting me to not tell others about the things we shared, considering the severity of it leaking. (well, not really "severe" but there are consequences) Thank you for tolerating my nonsense and sometimes not-very-respectful-words/actions. :P
Thank you for the time and patience.
Love,
Esther
